SeanK
so ive had my 4 stage spectrapure RO/Di unit for about less than a month
and ive been reading on my TDS meter In = 3ppm and Out = 0ppm

then i do it this morning to top off my system
and check the TDS meter and my In = 290ppm and Out = 39!!!

WTF!
whats wrong with my filter!
SeanK
im starting to feel like its my TDS meter tahts broken
because i unplugged the meter from my filter and turned it on, and it was still calculating my TDS and coming out with numbers.
Naturalreef
The only thing that I can think of Sean is that it needs to be calibrated. What meter do you have? Is it the digital $10 meter from Hms or ? Go to lowes or home depot and buy one of those cheap water quality kits where you dip the tab in a cup of water and color match the reading. This will ball park your tds.

Did you buy the TDS from them? They have great customer service. Give the a call.

i just use the one that came with my filter.

i just dont get why all of the sudden its reading TDS so high.
i used it yesterday and it was completely fine

Did you wait a couple minutes for the TDS creep to pass before reding the meter?
Are the probes fully inserted in the tees and rotated in the correct orientation as per the instructions?
Is the water temperature signifcantly warmer or coledr than the air temperature where your unit resides?
All of these can have a major effect on how the inline TDS meter reads.
Rather than posting a crazy thread in an open forum such as this have you attempted to contact either Spectrapure or HM Digital with your questions? Its usually best to handle something like this directly with the manufacturer or vendor as they can answer your questions directly and with some authority.

You do know Spectrapure is a N-R Sponsor and has a Sponsors Forum here don't you? Might be a good place to start.
spectrapure

I would ask all the questions that AZDR asked. If the meter is reading numbers without the connector plugged in, there's probably something wrong with it. Contact us and we'll get to the bottom of this.

I think some one has a crush on spectrapure..... and is a little on the sensitive side. It is just an ro/di unit and why should he not post it in this forum. This is the equipment forum. And a lot of people post question about there equipment in this forum. Both positive and negative. And I do think spectrapure fits just fine into the equipment forum. Or do all questions about a product that have to do with a sponsor on this board have to go into that companies forum?
AZDesertRat
When you purchase a product, no matter what the product or who the vendor or manufacturer is, you owe that vendor first shot at resolving a problem, thats common courtesy and good business.
If the vendor fails to resolve the issue then by all means take it to the masses.
The OP had a new product, under warranty and did not talk to the manufacturer before posting in an open forum. You will notice the manufacturer was very responsive once they were aware of the problem which is what you would expect.
