Full Version: Glueing SPS frags together for an unusual look

I have a 1 inch pink birdsnest frag and will be getting a 1 inch frag of purple polyp BN as well as green polyp BN. Would it be ok to glue the bottoms together in hopes that they will grow and intertwine with eachother?

Would other types of SPS be ok to do this?

Also thinking about a few small acan frags glued together so they make one multi colored acan colony...

I might be crazy but if its possible it might be cool.

There is pink birdsnest, and there is green birdsnest. The common ones are a different species. The pink birdsnest and the purple polyp may work, but I doubt it would look great. They will grow separately most likely.

I know most SPS that are the same species can touch, but they won't grow together. For example monti caps will actually compete to outgrow one another.

that would deff look pretty cool but i dont know if it would work though

Will the green and purple together fight eachother?

They may or may not. I say give it a shot. Make sure they look identical structurally.

They both grow fast and could grow into a cool ball of mixed colors, neat IMO. I would go for it, they are cheap and grow fast, if they start stinging (which I doubt) separate them.

I'll be doing this shortly and i'll post pics if its a success...

anybody think attaching 4 small acan lord frags would work? Would they get aggressive if they are forced to grow in certain directions?
Black Mark
you can make two frags and make them touch for a day or so to see if they will accept each other

i saw pics somewhere where someone mixed diffrent corals to get swirling colors...on reefbuilders or GBD i believe

They'll be fine, although they will do nothing but touch. It won't be anything special.
