Looks like a mussel to me.

Also flame scallops do not do well in captivity.

I know they dont do well but i have been spot feeding it once a week and its still healthy and alive.

mine is doing well but I feed a lot of food each day. feeding them 3 times per week is surely not enough. Feeding it once a week is a slow death sentence.

What food are you giving it? supposably they will discard any dead phyto so it's best to use DT live phyto. they require very fine particule food like 5 to 100 micron, marine snow, ultraclam, ultra seafan, ultramin, oysterfeast and rotifeast are all good food for it. They do not like yeast so any food that contain it will probably be discarded.

And they are not even scallop, they are lima clam smile.gif

you should add live phyto as well. Marine snow is very good but once a week is far from enough. You should feed it at least once a day and stop the skimming for at least one hour when feeding it. Target feed is best if possible.

it is important to watch the clam to see if it poop. Often it will spit out a ball of debirs and that is not poop. the poop as a tubing form, not a ball of crap.

the article in the link I posted explain their mode of reproduction. It takes 2 clams to make babies, so I doubt what you have is a baby. Large clams are all females and smaller are males. As they grown larger and older they go from male to female. Really wierd.

Those of you who want a -chance- with flame scallops should check out fauna marine products like ultra clam and ultra min F.

Thats not a flame scallop thats an electric eye scallop. flame scallops have brown shells. electric eye scallops have white shells..

oh wait it is a flame scallop, they are red.
electric eye scallops are more orange.

sorry i got confused
Dani3d
Cool, I was wondering why mine had a brown shell. I do feed mine Fauna Marin Ultra Min F and Ultra Seafan. Oyster feast is a good thing too but live phytoplankton is the most of this clam's diet from what I read before.

I was lucky that mine settled in a crevasse of my totoka live rock so that it is right in front of the tank and very visible.

I have what appears to be 4 of these guys in my tank. They are micro in size and when I mean micro, they are tiny little things. All I could see where the tiny red feathers coming out. When I approach it with my grabber just to see if it moves it sucks in all red feathers.
lakshwadeep
Are you sure they're not feather dusters?
