So, about a week ago, I introduced my little CuC to my new tank. About a dozen snails of sorts and a few hermits, with the majority of the hermits being cortez/mexican red. I also got one fairly large blue leg as I had some out of control brown hair algae (and a small hint of what may be cyano) and wanted something I was sure would be big enough to get at it.

Now, everyone but the blue is having a ball. The cortez's immediately went to town on the diatomes (2 days, no more brown) and the snails started trucking around, but my question is about the blue hermit. I know he's doing alright, since, when I'm sneaky, I can catch him doing his thing. However, as soon as he sees a shadow, or me getting near the tank, he immediately shells up and hides. If I stand by the tank and don't move, he'll come out in about a minute, but the slightest move and he's back in.

None of the other hermits have this problem, they're out and about all day regardless of what's goin on around them.

So, is this common for blues? Anyone else notice this behavior? Or is mine just a social failure?
.Newman.
mines like that too sometimes. I'm surprised yours is out in the daylight already. it took mine a while to get used to foraging in the day time.
