i am possibly interested in a viper clam on lamp and would like some quick info on it from personal use..

do you need to add the actinic lighting like for example, do you need to add leds to get the same glowing 14K look. do the corals still pop without the mh? when i use just my white t-5s they glow a llittle, but nothing like the actinic only. does it even compare to how much they do glow with the t-5's?

anyone with just the viper miss the actinic only time of the tank?

i just got a t5 fixture after having my mh clamp on with even a 20k radium. I turned on the actinics only and that made me very happy switching to a t5. even with the 20k radium, my corals never really "popped" like with actinics. the colors were bright and stood out clearly, but not the same as with actinics. and now no heat issues, no fan needed, thus very little evaporation. and keeping my t5's, the temps dont rise more than half a degree. with the mh w/o the fan on, my temps would go for 78.5 to over 83. It almost reached 84 one day when i forgot to turn the fan on.

what size tank do you have? mind you i had a 20 long so i had a lot of surface area and the tank was shallow.
