HOW CAN I ADD WATER TO MY 40B WITHOUT RAISING MY SG....

I AM ABOUT 33-35G FULL NEED TO FILL TO THE TOP WITHOUT RAISING SG.

MY SG IS 1.025
JMAdams
put more saltwater in with SG at 1.025.
violinist
Add equal amount of ro/di water and 1.025 saltwater to top off and maintain your current salinity.
P-DUBS
SO IF I GO ONE CUP SALT ONE CUP FRESH BACK AND FORTH UNTIL ITS FULL ?

I'VE HAD TANKS FOR A WHILE LOL BUT I JUST CANT REMEMBER HOW I DID IT IN THE PAST

To top up use RO with NO salt as salt does not evaporate.

If your doing a water change or filling up the tank for the first time mix more RO water with salt and match the salinity to what's in your tank.

MY TANK IS UP AND RUNNING WITH A SG OF 1.025 I NEED TO ADD ONE BUCKET WITHOUT RAISING SG. WOULD ADDING THE WHOLE BUCKET OF 1.025 BE OK ?
violinist
Sure.
P-DUBS
THANKS

OK SO THE IDEA HERE IS THAT IF I ADDED SALT WITH NO WATER THE SG WOULD RISE BUT BECAUSE THE SG MATCHES AND I NEED ONE MORE BUCKET I WONT RAISE THE SG
krug1313
Correct.

It's the math theory of Averages. I.e, (I gallon of 1.025 + 1 gallon of 1.027) Divided by 2 = 1.026. So 1.025 + 1.025 divided by 2 = 1.025. I'm pretty sure that just confused you even more. Sorry tongue.gif

NO ACTUALLY MATHEMATICS WAS WHAT I WAS TRYING TO DO TO FIGURE THIS OUT....

I WAS JUST STUMPED

LOL

Turn your capslock key off for increased mathematical skillz.

If you have 7 gallons of 1.025 water and you add 8,562 gallons of 1.025 water, what will your sg be ?
violinist
42

+1

Must suck being screamed at all day.. by someone who doesn't comprehend.. anything tongue.gif

if you have 1.025 and add water at 1.025.. its all 1.025.

If you add water with no salt, it will go down.

If you add salt and no water, it will go up.

What is hard here?
