yup, ive got another for the led gurus:

in general, what is more efficient, running a 1w led at 350mA or running a 3w led at 350mA? which generates more heat? and which generates more lums?

thanks in advance smile.gif

What?

"3W" LEDs are typically far more efficient than "1W" LEDs. Even at 350mA, a "3W" LED has far greater output. For example, a typical ebay 1W LED has an output of about 70-80lm, while a latest gen XP-G is currently over 140lm at 350mA.

A "3W" LED will run cooler at the same current, as the conversion efficiency is much better on converting electricity to light. The difference in heat is fairly minimal though.

that right there, sealed the deal laugh.gif

o and is running at 350mA more efficient than running at 700mA?

As far as the light produced? Yes. Twice the power doesn't get you twice the output.
