Full Version: Will an orange spotted gobby be bff with a pistol shrimp?

The website I was reading stated that not all breeds of gobby with pair with pistol shrimp, but funny enough, decided not to list off which ones. Just wanting to make sure, because I was thinking about getting one for my gob.

it has the ability to form the partner ship but sometimes they just dont. You kinda need a shrimp to see if it will pair or not.

Also, not all pistol shrimp pair with shrimp gobies.

The name "orange spotted" is used for two goby species that are very different in appearance and behavior: a shrimp goby (Amblyeleotris guttata) and a "sleeper" or sand-sifting goby (Valenciennea puellaris). You need to make sure to get Amblyleotris guttata as sleeper gobies don't pair with anything.

Most gobies (there are over 2000 species in the family) are not shrimp gobies; but here is a good list of those that are:
