I have an older outer orbit light (that is still working VERY good) that has 150 watt, 2x65 power compact, and 2 x 2 led moon lights. They leds are white only.

What sort of upgrades can I do to this light? Can I replace the white led's for blue ones? Can I make this into a t5 unit? Anything else?

Hoping some outer orbit owners will chime in.

Hiya. I own the big daddy of the outer orbit 72" with 4 96w PC bulbs. Depending on the length of your particular unit people have with good success retro-ed T-5's in. I thought about doing this also but 3 x 150w is a lot of light and electricity. And with LED units coming for sale I'd rather wait and purchase a whole new light system.

No one really messes with the LED's. Maybe remove the resistor unit on them to make them brighter and fit some more powerful moon lights.

These fixtures where designed so you would not need to modify them. Shine up the PC reflectors and be happy smile.gif

My sister had one and the fan was too loud so I cut out the top vents and put in a couple more fans with wire grills and replaced the stock fan as well. Even with them running at 5-6 volts it cooled the whole fixture down substantially from the stock setup and was inaudible.

I was also planning LED actinics but she upgraded so I'll be doing LEDs on her new 4' odyssea instead, same idea though.
