Coming back into the hobby after a two year break. I am into technology myself, so lets outfit the aquarium with it as well. May not be the prettiest thing, but it seems to work. If anyone has a better idea of hanging the fixture, let me know. Also, simple tips to make it less eye sore, let me know too.

24 Cree XR-E LED's. 12 White, 12 Blue on a heatsink usa 7x9 heatsink. 60 Degree optics.

Sorry for the cell pics, can't find the camera.

Just ran to wal-mart to get some black Krylon Fusion, I am painting the rods, and the back of the tank.
Nemo Niblets
I am impressed.

Next is hanging the light better. smile.gif Thanks for the wonderful threads that made this happen.

Scratch that..... I ordered an enclosure from Catalina Aquariums and put it in today, re-did some wiring and now it is rocking, along with water, rock and sand in the tank. Looks great smile.gif.

Looks pretty good!

Looks great, man!

What size heatsink did you use and which Catalina enclosure did you get?

I'm seriously considering doing this for my own 30g cube. smile.gif

7 X 9 heatsink from heatsink USA, got the perforated top enclosure from Catalina, and got them to cut it to 13in so I could fit both drivers and some wiring inside.

Nice, man. It looks really good. Do you have any other pics?

I assume you are using 2 Meanwell drivers?

Many thanks for putting up with my questions. smile.gif

Sweet light!
I'll be doing one soon and will be joining the group biggrin.gif

NeveSSL: Yeah, for now I am using two 700ma fixed current drivers. Soon I will be switching to DaveFason's new lighting controller he is in the process of making. I will post up more pics soon.

JM82792: Thanks, let me know if you have any questions

Question on your lighting rods. I am looking to build my own as well. Where did you get them, did you bend them yourself? Are they aluminum pipes- type you would find in the electrical section in Home Depot? How did you secure the fixture? More pics would be great! Thanks!

It was 1/2" Electrical Conduit, Bent with a 1/2" Conduit Bender, painted black with Krylon Fusion.

I used 1/2" Conduit brackets and secured them to the back of my stand. I could always raise or lower if needed.

As for the fixture, a U bold and some zip-ties for the time being wink.gif

NeveSSL
Just thought I'd check in and see how your fixture was doing. smile.gif

I'm finally going to finish mine. You still have yours up and running? Have you made any modifications to it?

Thanks,

Brandon
