Hi, i am planning to start a 20L reef and I was wondering what kind of lighting I will need. I plan to keep soft corals so is 65w of 50/50 power compact lighting going to be sufficient or should I go higher? Thanks for any input.

That should be enough light at bare minimum for softie corals. You would be better off with 2x96w PC's if you wanna stay with power compacts.
You could also look into T5HO's.
www.fishneedit.com or www.aquatraders.com for inexpensive fixtures.

To learn more about T5s, read the T5HO information thread in the lighting forum.

I have both a tank with pcs isn't as impressive as T5s by any means, just get a simple dual bulb t5 and then later get another if you feel the need. I will not buy anymore PC fixtures the just don't do enough, my 10 gallon has 72 watts of pcs and the 7watt LED night light looks better and keeps my zoas open better. I wouldn't waste the money on PCs besides even Current knows they are obsolete

30" Current SundialYou can also find these refurbished on ebay for about $130 every once in a while. The nice thing with this one is that it reaches end to end on the tank. The 24" ones require you to "make them fit" with either a glass top or supsending the light.
Def check out the T5HO thread - you can get some ideals and see what other people choose for bulbs to get different colors and PAR ratings. The really nice thing with the Current is that it is pretty powerful allowing more coral choice.
Hope this helps!
