Was on here a few weeks ago searching for a skimmer silencer, and found an easy trick. I dont remember whos thread i found it on but it is not my idea and i wish i could credit who came up with it, but i cant, So i thought i would share with yall.

All you need is a pill bottle(prescription bottles work best) some air hose, drill bit( i used an irwin variabit, only need one for all sizes) and about 10 min.

Take the cap to the bottle and drill one hole in it the size of the air intake hose on your skimmer(where the gurggling comes from), be sure to mke it a tight fit and silicone is not needed.

second, drill one or two holes(depending on the air hose you have, for small hose i did two, but 1 large hose works best). be sure they are accross from one another on cap.


insert hose(s) into second hole again make sure they are tight. insert about 1". snip hose on outside of bottle to 2 to 3".


insert the hose from the skimmer to within 1 1/2" of bottom and done.(you can play with lengths to suit your needs but this worked best for me)

Now go get your wife and tell here what a genius you are!!!


bottle on left was first "prototype" but it seemed to hinder bubble production a little, so i used 1/8 inside hose instead on right. last pic is skimmer hose(white) inserted.
