Hi Guys, I have a 10 gallon standard tank that has just finished the cycling process. I had the tank up and running for about 2 months and a couple of weeks. I already have some livestock in there. To get to my question though what are some affordable lighting fixtures for a 10 gallon tank? I have a standard flurorensent bulb that Ive been using for the time being. The length is 20 inches and the width is 10 1/2

get a 20 inch orbit, nice look and it is cheaper. It is also reliable by current usa.

I think it really depends how much you want to spend and also what kinda lighting your looking into.

If thats what you mainly want just go with a Odyssea light like me and PIPS.
I have a 24" 130 over my 10g. It works great!
I think PIPS has the MH+T5HO over his 10g and his looks good.
It all depends on what your budget is and what kind of coral you are wanting to keep.

Hey guys Im looking into Odyssea 20" 36W Power Compact Light Fixture, Im considering buying this.I have 4 soft corals in the tank that were given to me by a neighbor whos been reef keeping for years. So would this light be sufficient to support these corals. I plan on getting more soft corals later on.
lakshwadeep
I strongly suggest not getting a power compact fixture. T5s are better than them in almost every way such as efficiency (T5HO bulbs provide more light for the same watt of power), color selection (generally), and bulb life (a year or more versus 6-8 months for PCs).

I found a Coralife Aqualight Double Compact Fluorescent Strip Lights, I think this is the fixture Im gonna go with, Ive heard good things about it, it seems pretty reliable too. Heres the link in case you guys wanna check it out.
