Hey all. So my light is acting up and I go online to see what I can do and find out that the light is discontinued. I can't find bulbs. I think the bulb is going or the balast. IDK but it keeps shutting off and on. I took it apart and blew out all the dust. Seems to be working better for now.

So I will be in the market for a new light. I liked the light I have now cause it fits my tank well and has built in fan for cooling. Was looking at lights at marine depot, they all seem to be pendant and hanging lights. My tank is a cube, 20x20x18. Was looking at the Hamilton Cayman 250 watt.

Anybody here using the Hamilton????? If not I'm up for suggestions. I've got alot of corals to take care of and we all know that light is the life source. HELP!!!! ohmy.gif

The bulb is a standard MH bulb 150w or 250 - you don't need a replacement bulb from Current USA. If you're having problems with the ballast, you should be able to get replacement parts from Current I would imagine.

Yes, the future of Current USA's MH lines looks not so good. This was last week's drama on NR smile.gif

the ballast is made by SUNPARK so you may try to find one from them, bulb can be from anywhere as long as mount and wattage match

I missied last weeks drama about Current. biggrin.gif I thought I might be able to use any 150 watt MH bulb but wasn't sure.

r3dr33f you like the Cayman so far? Have it hanging from the ceiling? hard to get centered? Your solona is about the same size as my 30cube. I've got a 150 watt on it now but thinking of upgrading to the 250. I looked at your tank very nice and the light seems to reach the whole tank. How far off the top of the tank?

I like it^^

I have it hung from a home made arm, from the back of the stand.. and it sits about 8-9 inches off the water.. this light also has a small built in LED strip for night time.. have not seen any issues yet, but the light is still new..

Sunpod ballast warranties are taken care of by Sunpark now. If you are having issues, call Current and they can point you to the right person at Sunpark.

So the light is working well. fingersx01.gif I got the light in november of 07 so a cleaning was due. I opened it up removed the fan and cleaned all the dust off and out of the entire unit. I guess it needs to be cleaned a little more than every 2 yrs. blush.gif If it happens again I'll call current or sunpark for warranty and/or replacement parts, unless I find a NEW light 1st. happy45.gif

Thanks for the help. happy.gif
