Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to say again that I love this site. I have received help with ID and posted a WTB. What is next?
I have 2 nano's.
1) 12 gallon Aquapod that was running for three months previously. Bought on Tuesday. It has about 5 frags, LS, 3 small LR. All testing has come back good. Might increase the Ca level as it is around 400. 10% water change this weekend. First one! Excited.
2) 14 gallon empyy NANO Biocube.
So the ? is:
What would you do with the spare tank? Your thoughts and ideas would be great... or refer to a previous thread that discussed this same topic.
My thoughts:
-small apt. so I have the running AQUAPOD perfectly on an endtable. The spare fits right underneath, but I can not open the lid.... 2" lift on the lid opening.
* leave the spare on the floor to mix new saltwater
* do this until I have a need for a quarantine tank or I buy too many rocks and frags
* complete DIY standpoint holding both (tanks side by side) or (over and under)
* create a frag only tank for the future
Let me know what you would do!
Cheers!

Do you have a see through between your kitchen and living rooms. I live in a 2 bdrm and have 7 tanks, all but 2 are 40 or bigger. That is down from 14, LoL so room is really what you are willing to give up to do what you want with your tank. I would probably DIY a stand and have a display refuge/ sump/quarantine. Kinda like you said they fit in the stand you have only to where you can access both easily

I'm just throwing these ideas out there but some possiblities as to what to do with the spare is...
1. sell it and buy more frags
2. make it into a frag tank
3. a possible sump?

Thanks for the advice. Small apt. Can no do the back to back that is a really good idea.
I like the other suggestion.
Keep and make it a frag tank.
Buy buy buy! (frags) Trade trade trade! =)
I really have to say, corals are like an underwater garden. Such better colors. That's my best analogy.

hey Mike, glad you made it to the forum and you're getting answers, hope the tank does great. I like the scape you showed me, try to get at least one piece of nice LR so it would help you seed the tank better. I dont know if you're aware but check this place in the city they sell tons of Saltwater fish and coral, 6th ave aquarium, 425 Clement Street San Francisco, CA 94118-2317 look them up.

Hey ednangel,
Thanks for the comments on the structure. Oh, I understand now what you mean about seeding with a better LR.
6th Avenue is a 5 minute drive from me. Love window watching there, but seems most of the fish are ill. The supplies are reasonable compared to other LFS.
Keep in touch.

Yes I know you have to be picky but they’re good for supplies, corals and inverts, you have to quarantine fish with caution.

If I were you I'd keep the second tank. Since not all marine life thrives in the same conditions (light intensity, flow, temperature, type and amount of feeding) having multiple tanks gives you more options.
You could use it to keep things that might not possible or desirable to have in your main tank. Some examples that come to mind are: macroalgae, seagrass, mantis shrimp, gorgonian, gonipora, sponge, clam, aggressive fish). Please note that I'm not specifically recommending that you keep any of these in this particular tank (do your research first), just pointing out some uses one might find for a second tank.
