Full Version: what is the best anemone for hosting true precs?

I have a 25 gallon and I'd like to get a cool anemone to host a pair of tank raised true precs I just bought. They are mega small babie precs right now. I really like how the anemones look when they host clowns.

I have a 150 watt M/h light on this tank which I believe is good light for the anemone.

What would do the best in this tank? (I've heard the bubble anemones would be best)

Want to get some thoughts..

Really a BTA is the best, hardy and most clowns will take to it.

Thanks for the reply.

What about "sherman rose bubble tip?" are those the same thing as normal "bubble tip"? Or are Sherman's special kind of bubble tip?

I've never heard of "sherman" bubble tips. Bubble tip anemones are the species Entacmaea quadricolor, and rose bubble tips are a reddish color morph.

You don't have to get an anemone. Clowns may also host corals, and some LPS like torch corals are much easier to keep while still looking like an anemone.

How old is this tank? Water quality is also important when keeping anemones. More info on BTAs

i read that that true percs usually hose carpet nem in the wild. i have a bta nem in my tank and my percs never tried to hose it once.

bought a tomato clown and within a few hours if adding him in he dove straight into the nem

150 is perfect! Nice job. Take a picture of your set up!

Bubble Tipped Anemones are a safe choice, but remember, many clowns won't take to anemones. Since they are tank-raised, you may have a harder time than normal too, be aware. Sebae anemones are awesome choices too, though a bit harder to find. One lost art of reefing nowadays is waiting for the PERFECT animal. BTA are cool, but common, sebaes aren't (as much). Some times going for the rare is rewarding!

Good luck, and how dare you post with no picture! Let's see the set up and those baby perculas!

If you are talking about Mickey's from the DFWMAS board, those work fine. They are bubble tip nems.
