First, sorry for the crappy pic. Only had a 24mm lens and so I had to crop the sh** out of it. Then I put it through a program to reduce the size of it and it changed the colors drastically.

Anyways, the little spots against the body of this acro are microscopic red bugs. I know they don't appear red in the pic, but they are. They don't appear to be harming the coral any, and they don't apper to be on any other corals in my tank. They scurry around on the outside of it. I can see them move. Trying to figure out what they might be. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Mark

Red bugs. You need to get some Interceptor and dip the frag. They will eventually kill every smooth-skinned acro in your tank.

Are you just trying to bust your post count, because you usually have nothing to offer except what you learned on the last thread.

Thank you so very much. That is what I was afraid of. Off to the vets to get some treatment.

eek.. before you dose the whole tank you should read an article by Julien Sprung about red bugs.. basically says that they usually are found only on a few acros in your tank.. and can be dealt with by using a revive dip. If I can find it I'll post.

should also add that I get to meet Julien at our next marine society meeting. Cool!

True - whatever you use, don't dose your tank. Dip the coral in a separate container.

Hey there everyone, Update, As of now, no more LRB's (little red bugs). Woo Hoo! biggrin.gif I went to the local vet and got some Interceptor. I did things just a little bit different than the guy from the Dallas site that DHaut linked me to. Same basic way with a couple of changes.

I did take the coral out and did not treat the whole tank. I had a small clear container that I use for the tank. I filled that with tank water and then took one small Interceptor pill and crushed it with a spoon. I then put that in the water. I did not put a pump or heater in the water. I just put the coral in the container and then through the hour that I was going to keep it in the solution, I kept adding a little more tank water to keep the temp consistent. For circulation, I just kept swirling the water every 10-15min. to keep the water moving occasionally.

Call this the lazy mans way of treating for LRB's. After the hour in the solution, I took the coral out and dumped the water, refilled with fresh tank water and let it sit for another hour. Doing the same regiment as before, add a little water every 10-15min. to maintain water temp and swirl for circulation. As a last step, I did a quick Lugols dip after all this right before putting it back in the tank. Unfortunatley the frag wasn't mounted on anything, I had it sticking in the sand, so now it has a bruise or two, but does look like it will make a full recovery. I have also now mounted it to a plug. Accompolish a couple of things at once.

So all in all. The Interceptor treatment seems to have worked the first time with no ill effects to the acro. Awesome deal everyone. Thanks for the links. Mark
