Ok, so I thought maybe it was a very late diatom bloom but this isn't happening on the rocks or glass nor is it "sheet" like on the sand bed... it looks as though suddenly I have a bunch of red grains of sand or very small red balls throughout the sand bed in the front of the tank... anyone have any idea what it could be?

Coralline growing on sand crystals?

Without a pic, it would be hard to guess.

I thought that... but it doesn't seem to be happening nearly as much on the rocks and not at all on the glass... huh.gif

I'll get a pic for y'all tonight, my bad guys. If it helps, it really does look like some grains of sand have gotten covered with coraline but again that would be weird because it's not on the rocks nor is it on the sand in the back of the tank.

Not that I would know from personal experience or anything but if you are using chemipure and the bag rips it will release a bunch of little orange/red balls all over.
