Ok so i have a 10g tank thats been set up for about 3 months now. It is right next to my computer so i spent A LOT of time watching it and watch it at many different times of the day/night. The other day i seen the weirdest looking thing, i would have posted then but our Internet has been down.

At first i thought a starfish of some kind, but the body of this thing is the same diameter its whole length. Where as most stars I've seen have arms that temp to somewhat taper and get smaller as they get father from the body. I could only see about 2-3 inches of it due to it being partially under a rock but it did not look like it was attached to a body either.

Like i said i watch my tank for many hours through out the day at various times, its been set up for about 3 months and I've never seen this before, it was out for about 5 minutes, and i haven't seen it sense. Does anyone have any idea what this is, I've looked for it and can not find it in my rocks so its great at hiding. I'm going to get some purple fire fish this weekend (hopefully) and just want to make sure this thing is safe or gone if it needs to be.

Thanks a lot!! Here's some of the pics i got of it. Hope it helps, i don't know if you'll be able to tell or not but it looks like it has rows of spiky feelers or something.

I've seen them in multiple tanks of mine as well. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I believe it came in the live rock.

At some point, I decided it was a 'bristle worm' but am no longer sure.

They come out alot when the lights are off, I used to see a dozen of them in my 80g reef, when I flicked the lights on at night.

bristle worm! They're good detritivores, but some varieties can sting, so don't poke it.

It's a bristle worm. Harmless unless you touch it, then you're
in for a hurt.
