I was wondering if anyone has ever kept green star polps in a nc24 and if it is possible with the 72 watt stock lighting to keep them low in the tank?
LebaneseDlight
you can probably grow your GSP under a flashlight haha. Shouldn't be a problem to keep em low.

How long would u say they take to open?
Degener8
it will depend on yoru tanka nd water quality how long it takes to open. Your lighting should be fine and if water quality is good they could open in minutes to days or a week. hard to say.

BEWARE!!! Once they enter... they will never leave...

GSP is weird. To some people it's a pest, others it won't grow. Sometimes it closes for days for no reason. I've heard of it being exposed to outdoor freezing temps for 3-4 hours and then opening again. They seem to like light and uber flow but I think it's more about the flow.

Mine opened almost immediately and only closes in the middle of the night. Sometimes it stays open at night. Grows like freaking crazy, looks incredible under the actinics. I love GSP.

Apparently one way to kill it is to have your heater fawk up and get your tank to 93 degrees, that worked for me.

so if its in the front corner catching the full force of my mj1200 thats ok?

Took my GSP 3-4 days to open up... didn't help that the snails kept plowing it over. Once I glued it to a rock and set it in a cave, it opened up.

I'm attempting to control the crazyness by keeping it on my sand bed, with only the little flat rock I glued it to. Will the GSP grow onto the sand at all, or just stick to the rock?

from what i have seen put it right in the way of any flow and it will be your best friend. and it will grow on anything. but beware....once you open that can of worms have fun tryin to keep it under control. i have seen people glue it straight to the the back glass for a background. also seen it on mag floats, snails, and hermits. stuff is crazy. i like it though.
