Ok so I've had a turbo snail for a few weeks now, and he had this lump on the side of its shell, same color just a different texture. The edges were also very smooth with its shell, so i thought it may just be a weird growth pattern on its shell.

However, today I saw that the lump was gone, and i looked to the back of my rocks, and wedged in between my rocks and glass was this thing, upside down:

I'm pretty sure its a stomatella.. but its fleshy part isnt big enough to move around on its own, except to nudge itself left and right, and the shell edge isnt flat because it grew to the contours of the turbo snail's shell. Basically, it looks as though the shell outgrew its body while living w/o movement on the turbo snail.

If this isnt a stomatella, could anyone tell me what it is, and if I should put it back into my tank on the rocks or just toss him out?

Thanks!

Not a stomatella. There are creatures/parasites that latch onto snail shells.. forgot the name.

sounds like a limpet (sp?)

Oh ok, the shape of the shell threw me off. Thanks for the quick replies!!

So I'm assuming I toss him out?
