One look at and it was sold. It's pinchers resemble the "club" look and not the pointy black ones. So Im pretty sure he's reef safe. So far, he's been well behaved and pretty much looks like he's enjoying himself... when I see him. LOL Guy said he came from Indonesia.. or something of that nature.

Any clues what he is???

Thanks... read that... he's a pretty nice crab. I actually have him and another smaller emerald and pistol. All seem to be getting along just fine. I noticed he pretty much likes to pick at the rock. Then again, i feed my tank pretty well twice a week.

It's a xanthid crab. You went through getting all those hitchhiker crabs out, and then you buy a crab without an ID?!

Well, I pretty much went by the shape of his claws... being very "clubby" looking. And I have to admit, the fact that the LFS told me they were reef safe. If the claws had been pointy, I would have not considered it.

So far, he hasn't done a single thing to anything in the tank other then eat the peices of food that fall to the floor and clean the rock. If that changes, he's large enough and tends to come out often enough for me to catch him and put him in a quaranteen tank until I can take him back.

I honestly didn't think he was a bad type of crab. I have gorillas in my tank that I'm still catching. tongue.gif

Gorillas or Guerillas... How big is your tank to be keeping primates! tongue.gif
