I just cleaned the outside of my tank and notice TONS of tiny little white things all over the inside of the glass. what are these? I cant get a picture because they are TINY but they are just specks and you can tell they are moving.
I am trying to find another thread with the answer but thought I would ask . thanks

Edit: after a little googling and searching I think the are sand fleas? or copepods? are these the same thing? and seem to be nothing to worry about.

this is my best try at a pic! hope it works

YES!!! that is exactly what it looks like. an infestation of fleas! I assume they will go away or at least their number will dwindle right? there are seriously thousands of them.

they'll either make it back to the sand/live rock, or they'll get eaten. either way, problem solved. they're good to have in the ecosystem.

pods ! we all got dem. at least we all want them !! lol

iw as just about to make a thread about this too! good to know theyre some sort of pods. ii got thousands of them all over my sand, rocks, and glass. And im only a little over the 2nd week of my cycle!
cruiZe
cuz U don't have creatures eating them yet.

my clowns are always eating them, cleaner shrimp hunt them too. Still a lot hiding in rocks, mostly come out at night, mostly.
faerl
Yeah, if you don't have something in the tank to eat them then they'll survive in there just fine. I don't know of a use for them other than as a food source. The only thing about them that threw me is that to propagate sometimes they'll build up a cocoon type shell on the glass (really just looks like a large one that doesn't move at all). Scrapes off with your normal glass cleanings though. In either case, they won't hurt anything and a few in your tank is a good thing.

As long as they aren't flatworms you are good.
