I have a 25 gallon (2nd tank) that I'm really using to store live rock, and I have a few mushrooms. (No super nice corals)
I"m looking for a few "cool" fish to put in there.
what do you guys suggest for some nice colored, fun fish to put in this tank?

Far as good looking, one of my favorites is the six-line wrasse, which is nice because they are easy to find, hearty, and relatively inexpensive. Without a 'fuge though, they will wipe out your amphepod(sp?) population pretty fast, so keep that in mind. They will also readily eat frozen.
I really love my Tailspot Blenny. Not quite as colorful as the six-line, but what he has is quite vibrant, and I've never met a fish with more personality. Actually, strong personalities and curiosity is something common in Blennies in general, and I'd really recommend any of them you liked the look of. They are mostly algae eaters and will go for nori if they deplete your tank's algae (look for a non-fat belly to see if they are finding enough food on their own). Another thing I love about my Blenny is that my skunk cleaner shrimp will actually chase his poop down to eat it, which is better in my mind than it rotting amongst rocks or sand. I don't know if this is normal, but both my shrimp actively follow the blenny around hoping he'll poop...
I've also heard many great things about Jawfish, and the Bluespotted is stunning if you don't mind a hefty price tag. I believe they are scavengers, eating meaty foods, and have heard they readily eat frozen.
Clownfish would do pretty well in that size as well.

i just bought a 1" inch mystery wrasse. I love it see it all day unlike my yashia goby. i would say to go with something you are going to see that has character like a yellow assessor (swims upside down all the time real unique)

do you think I could get by with any of the puffer fish? Even if I just did one of them?

What about a Shrimp and goby pair, oranged lined cardinal, purple Firefish or if you have the money Helfrichi.

Could I keep a pair of firefish and a pair of cardinals?
Do those fish mind being with other of it's kind?

The orange lined cardinals are schooling fish. I think the firefish would fight unless they were a pair.

i like interesting behavior over "cool looking". That being said, i would go with the typical pair of clowns and shrimp/goby pair.
I have a purple firefish and an ocellaris. the firefish looks really nice but hides a lot and its personality isnt as interesting as the clown.

Do research before getting a puffer. Most are too big for your tank, and many are predators of invertebrates and corals, not to mention aggressive.
