So I've been recharging my Purigen over the last two days. It has a really fishy aroma to it. Anyone every come across that while recharging?
drakkor
Toss it, it's not that expensive and not worth the risk of adding chemicals to your tank, trust me I went down that path.

A good long rinse in fresh water has removed the smell. What ya think?

I recharged my Purigen twice now using the directions supplied... No problemo's

Bleach one day, rinse in distilled with declorinator one day, rinse well in distilled again and back into my Media Rack...

lol, they have you use a ridiculous excess of their dechlorinator to make up for the purigen you won't be buying. awesome.

I'd soak it in the bleach, the rinse it with RO several times, then neutralize the residual bleach with hydrogen peroxide.

So it's a conspiracy?

I'm sure its possible to recharge, but I wouldn't risk nuking my whole tank. Its not that expensive to pick up some new purigen every few months.

Plus I dont buy dechlorinator b/c I use RO/DI, so by ''saving money by recharging" i would actually be adding an expense!

Yeah f that.

I'll buy just buying more whenever mine is ready.
