I bought a pipette from my LFS and was going to try and target feed my Zoa and frogspawn. I was going to try a concentrate of cyclop-eez and marine cusine which is brine, mysis, and krill. Any thoughts or advice??
Thanks,
Jason

I would advise not to bother with target feeding zoas lol smile.gif

(and frogspawn for that matter)

What size is your tank, those corals should do fine without target feeding under decent lighting. If your tank is really small you could damage your water parameters by overfeeding. I usually only spot feed zooplex or marine plex type foods to things like sun corals that are nonphotosynth along with acans and scolymia corals that are willing to take meaty foods. phyto and zooplex will also help bring out some really nice pigements in your zoas as well and make much easier target foods than heavier globs of foods like frozen mysis or marine cuisine cubes.

Also if you feel that you need to spot feed a good piece of advice is to shut off all you water circulation and I like to feed after my main lighting goes out to replicate a more nautural feeding time for coral. I have a 2hour actinic cylce before and after my metal halide lighitng comes on and off. I feed about an hour after the mh goes out when most of all the corals are extending feeder tentacles and are ready to take on food. Good luck and keep up with your water parameters and you'll be fine.

Well I just tried it out and I was pleasently suprised! I have seven different colonies of Zoa and first try with the pipette and only two wouldn't eat. The other four went crazy!! Some of the smaller polyps on the Darth Maul and the Chromis were eating pieces of krill and mysis that were bigger than they were!! Even my Xenia and green star polyps ate the larger pieces. As well as my Frogspawn, all nine heads closed full of food. Then after everything setteled down and started to open back up, I turned the pump back on and they all fed again, including the two who didn't feed the first time. I am very pleased!!

I have target fed as well as put some food just in the water column. I used rotifeast and oysterfeast. I have never seen my zoas or frogspawn do anything. Once I did see my acan frag maybe do something, it looked like tenicles came out and it had stuff stuck to it, but that could have been slime?
