Hi there,
I have never ordered livestock online (with the exception of some cichlids that came from the USA) But when asking my LFS (that I thought was pretty good and reputable) about ordering ricordeas online, he told me some shady excuse like it would be hard to get livestock from the USA and that if the custom guard knows what he's doing he will retain the package and not deliver it...
He also added that to import livestock you needed a permit which is 300$ each time no matter how big is your order... I would understand that such a law exist for companies that want to make money off the importation, but for individuals ? really ?
If he's wrong, which of our sponsors do you recommend for ricordeas ?
Thanks guys

Where are you located ?
wickedfrags.com was pretty good, based out of the GTA. I think he is moving, as he just sold off a ton of his stock. Reef-Raft will ship as well, they have a store in mississauga.

I think it's called a sites permit. But I also think it's the shipper who has to have this permit but I could be wrong. I remember my friend who breeds chameleons was talking about them but can't remember which way it is. There are tons of shops and people in Canada that will ship. Maybe just google.

CITES, but rics aren't under CITES. They need US Fish and Wildlife general export permits, you need import permits and customs charges are about $30. It is a ton of paperwork on this side, so expect a document fee...there is also the vet health check prior to shipping, that is usually on you as well. If it is only an additional $30 to ship to the Great North, jump on it. That guy won't make the mistake of charging that low a second time.
