The algae bloom is normal i hear. I got mine after about 3weeks. Althought i already had cuc in place to stay ontop of it. I would recommend astrea snails and maybe some blue or red legged hermit crabs? They are relatively cheap too. For my 20g i bought 3x snails and 6x hermit crabs. I find that doing a water change help slow down the growth.

Ah, this is what a lot of people get confused about. As you Nitrates begin to rise there will be a diatom bloom. Diatoms are referred to as a micro algae but that is not the case. They are a good sign of a healthy cycle and should not be concerned about. What most people say is that when you get a reading of zero on your nitrates you tank is done cycling. This is not true.
