So I'm starting up a new 5.5g AGA pico and I wanted to remove the rim, but I realized if I removed the rim it would make having a lid a lot harder. I was just wondering if all fish have tendencies to carpet surf? The main fish I'm considering would be: yellow watchmen goby, green banded goby pair, clown goby, or possibly a perc clown.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I hear YWGs tend to.. The thought scares me as well.

jawfish, eels, and blennies jump the most imo. all fish will jump, but it depends on the species

i lost my clown goby a while because he jumped.

why not fashion up a netting top?

Thats what I was thinking of doing, but I can't figure out how to go about it. I could easily just make one that fits around the whole top, but it wouldn't leave room for my filter, and I can't figure out how to make one that fits around my filter without leaving gaps ..

That's a genius idea! I actually saw someone say they just used egg cart, which would e perfect since I can clip it down to just the shape I want. Any thoughs on eggcrate vs your netting idea? One benifit I see for the eggcrate is if my light hangers failed it would hopefully stop my lite from falling into the water.

My sixline jumped a good 3' out of my tank earlier today. Luckily, I was in the room when it happened and put him back in the tank. Netting will be installed tomorrow.
