So I'm aware the JBJ Pico comes with a light and filter. Are they any good?

Light is OK. Filter is useless.
The Light is an 8w 50/50 PC. You can keep mushrooms/softies under it.

What filter would you reccomend and whats the price?

The general filter of choice of most people is an aquaclear 70. It's big enough to mod into a fuge and hold hold some odds and ends. I want to say you have to do another slight mod to the intake tube (it's to long for the tank) but they work very well, are quiet, and work a long time.
Oh...edit for price. New I want to say around 40? You can find them used for 20-25ish. Some may be modded already, but if not it's a very simple DIY project.
