My aquarium has been up and running for about 5 months now, I am using the JBJ 28 gallon HQI series nanocube. After my cycle was complete and my diatom algea came and went I added in a small clean up crew from Reefcleaners.org and IPSF.com. About 2 months ago I was well into my third month of reefing so I decided to start stocking the aquarium. I started with a small Kenya tree and after a few weeks of noticable growth I added in a small Frogspawn coral. Since the Aquariums beginnings I have fed once every ten days 1/2 a frozen cube of food. The food I was using was my own blended mixture of shrimp, scallops and Tilapia. About three weeks ago I decided to try out some store bought frozen food. Unknowingly I did not rinse the food and popped it in, since then my Phosphates and Nitrates have gone up. Algea has started to rapidly take over the tank. To combat this I have resorted to stirring the sand, brushing off rocks and frequent water changes. I have discountinued all feedings and have seen a decline in the Nitrates and Phosphates. Today during a water change I decided to employ the use of ChemiPure Elite. Normally all that is used to filter the water is filterfloss, liverock, and weekly waterchanges. Hopefully with the use of an added filter media I will begin to win this battle. Has anyone got any suggestions or experience in this matter?

Ok thanks for the tip. I can't believe how fast this stuff spreads! I literally have done tank cleanings almost every day. Filter floss is being changed everyday, due to it getting clogged up so fast. Hopefully my work will pay off as I would like to get back to stocking the tank. . .
