So I've noticed on the GT that every morning once the HQI comes on, two or three of the tentacles of the GT get REALLY long, like two or three times as long as the others. after a few hours they shorten up again... any clue as to why they do that?

They extend to try and catch food.. sweeper tentacles grab things int he water column andbring it back to the main colony.

Spot feed your LPS corals smile.gif they love it.

So 3.5 months later, here's an update. Most things are doing well, a few issues still being ironed out, definitely winning the algae war albeit slowly. Bubble coral was a total failure, not sure if it was shipping stress or didn't like being under 150w of MH. Tried an iodine dip and it did nothing except chase out an isopod from the skeleton. Lost a cleaner shrimp, but after getting a new cleaner shrimp and observing his behavior compared to the first I think the first one wasn't in good shape when I got him. Got rid of one of my sea hare's because they were mowing the algae down too fast, keeping the last one around though.

I know the clam shouldn't be in the sand for a crocea... And I know I shouldn't have a clam in a new tank! The fact is it was an impulse buy 3 weeks ago. I put him on the rock, he hopped off. put him on a different rock, hopped off. spent the first 2 weeks putting him in different spots on rock and he kept jumping off. Finally I tried putting him on a rock on the sand, he hopped off and attached through the sand to the glass. Hopefully he'll make it there!
