But when submerged does it feel the same? A lot of common hitchhiker organisms can survive a period out of the water - and a lot of those have a special mechanism to do so, perhaps it would be easier to identify if it was extended or whatever the normal look would be. Also they don't seem to be quite in focus, any chance of getting a pic that has those in focus instead of the LR around it? In my experience it's usually just repeating the shot from slightly different distances, but it could help the ID.
