Alright I am in the process of setting up a Nemo tank for my little girl, she is 6 weeks old. I am hoping to put the anemone's in on my Bday or my wifes 5/28 or 6/14. What I have is a 40ish corner tank, 10 gallon sump, skimmer, heater, probaly some chaeto in the sump, who knows what else (opinions welcome, just try to keep it resonable I did just have a kid. I will probably get a 250w halide, don't know which kind. I want to either have 3 different variations of BTAs or one of the more difficult larger nems. I'm thinking the variety would be cool and very neat when they start to split. Will different colored BTAs sting or chemical warfare be a problem?? I am sure someone has tried it. All opinions welcome.

Different colored btas can be kept together. I have 4 red and 1 green in my 40. If you do go with bta, you don't need metal halided, could go with T5's, less money, use less power and much less heat. If you are samrt, you'll let your tank mature for at least 6 months before you add anemones. They need a very stable system, adding them too soon can give you a real heart ache.

yea I checked her site out first, good to know I can add multiple colors. I like halides, I love the tank in the link. I just want a simple little nem tank for my girl, I am waiting about 6 months it has been set up for a while, just gotta get the sump on it. I want to be sure what my wife wants in here before I decide what all I want equipment wise. Thank you all for the input

Make sure it's pretty stable... The last thing you want is your little girl running to you saying "Daddy, daddy, the fish tank is white and nemo is dead!".

I would use rock that is as established as possible.

Make sure you feed the nems too. Most people report that this helps in the long-term success.

I have multiple colored ones in mine. They actually seem to prefer bunching up with each other.

Alright now I'm getting excited, what bulb types are good? I would love to run a 20k 250watt, or 400watt. I know very well these have been grown and prop. under two 40w NO flourescents over a 55 but I want the bubble tips and some insane color. But I definately want them to live long and prosper, LOL. Thanks for all the insight, the rock I used has been with me for years, I cant even get the tank to bloom with diatoms.

If your tank is 40g, 250 would be good. I had a 250 20K on my 50 reef w/several btas. 20K will give you a very pretty color, lots of blue. I also had a nove extreme T5 fixture w/atinics only, this went on an hour before and went off an hour after he MH.

20k plus actinic seems a little too much for my tastes, I still want my nemo's to look orange,LOL but thanks for the input makes me feel better knowing it has been done, So here goes the semi-final idea, 6 to 8 clowns, a small blue tang (Dori will get a bigger home when she grows up), two sexy anemone shrimp, and 4 different colored BTAs. All kept alive by bone grass, chaeto, maybe some other decorative plants, a good skimmer, and of course weekly to biweekly water changes.
