Hello Everyone,

I have an 12G NC DX.

Its been up for 4 weeks now and currently I have:

1 Clown
3 Astrea Snails
1 Trochus Snail
~4 blue legged hermits
1 Cleaner Shrimp

I have a little bit of bubble algae coming in that I have been trying to pick out but it seems to be spreading slowly.

Quite a bit of green hear algae that the snails (which have been there for 2 weeks have not been able to completely control.

I am thinking about adding a Emerald Crab to the tank. I have read about them and they seem pretty cool and look cool.

Anyone agree or disagree?

I will attach a pic of the tank from yesterday.

Thanks!

Go for it. I've got one and he doesn't hassle anyone and helps keep the small algae in check. I think he gave me the finger the other day because I was vacuuming the sand bed and disturbed him, but that's about the worst he's done in my tank.

Do it. I added one when my tank finished its cylce and i started to see little spots of cyano (I think it was cyano. Red blotches.) He went straight for it and I havent seen any sense.

That tank is a feast for an emerald. They are cute things. I just got two.

mine ate all my algae to the point that all the other critters started munching corals and good stuff + he would hang out upside down on the hammer coral skeleton and irritate it.

Thanks for all the input!

I got a Emerald Crab last night as well as 1 Cerith Snail.

Got them acclimated and set them free in the tank.

The crab went right to work cleaning the glass and sand bed of green hair algae. I watched him for a long time. He moved to a rock and I watched him eat some little tiny bubble algae! YAY! laugh.gif

Funny thing. He then went to my GSP which I just sorta stuck into a crack in a rock and decided it was dirty and should be cleaned underneath it. He lifted up my GSP and started cleaning the rock under it! Damnit! Entire tank of stuff to eat and he goes straight for that! mad.gif

So I grabbed the GSP and used a rubber band to attach it to another rock which is isolated on the sand bed. Its cool cause I really was thinking about this before. I hear that GSP can spread pretty quick.

Anyways, this morning the lights in the tank have not come on and I cannot see the new crab anywhere but Im sure he is in the rocks somewhere.

Ah adventures.....

Thanks again for all the input. I could not do any of this without this site! biggrin.gif
