I'm looking to have a steady supply of snails to feed my mantis shrimp. I have a 2.5g, and 5g tank and a low flowing 16gph hob filter for the job. It sucks seeing my cerith snail laying unfertilized eggs all over the tank knowing the chances are slim of them hatching even with a mate. My nerites don't lay eggs either. Whats a good snail that breeds like rabbits?
Also how should I set the snail breeding tank up in terms of sand/no sand, add calcium/don't add etc. Thanks.

Stomatella breed like rabbits for me. Not sure if a mantis has a taste for them though.

nano conches are tiny, but they breed like crazy.

dwarf ceriths will successfully breed, but florida ceriths eggs tend to die in the planktonic stage after the hatch unless you have a means to encourage settlement away from pumps and what not.

columbellid sp. snails or more commonly known as nano conchs breed very well. I have like over 20 egg packets from only 4 snails!

thanks for the replys, I'm gonna try the nano conch's, sounds like they breed best, 1/2" is perfect size for my mantis.
