so, it's effectively 100mm, with strictly manual focusing and a razor-thin DOF? yeah, sounds great.

So if you ever want to take a picture with basically no depth of field in an unlit cave I guess it's worth the $700.

To a point, but you can't take a lens that only goes to f/5.6 and take pictures with an extremely shallow depth of field.

Not as exciting as it might sound, as this is for the 4/3 format the equivalent DOF is 1.2 on APS-C and 1.4 on a full frame sensor. Granted this will still be great for low light (exposure would still be f .95) and shallow depth of field, it just is not as revolutionary as it might seem. If it was more like a true "normal" lens (25mm on 4/3) I think it would be more interesting.
