I have a 24g nano cube and when the guy sold me on it he also sold me 20 lb of sand. The sand is around 3 in deep around my tank or it atleast started that way. My blowers have now taken all of the sand out of the front left corner of my tank and caused sand bed depths of around 5 in and lots of build up around my rocks. I was wondering if I can relevel my sandbed or if it will release to many nirates and nitrites?

if the tank is still young, id just go ahead and take out a bunch of the sand....you only need about an inch or so....

Yup if your doing anythign less then 3-4" DSB, then it's purly cosmetic. However once your tank is established, and if you do anything more than 2", don't stir. smile.gif

Up to you.. Do u want a beneficial DSB? You plainning on getting BSJ or antyhing like that?

I personally love DSB's, but everyone is different. I love how the sand will move with diffent areas deeper than others.. pretty neat. smile.gif

take it out down to 1" or less, or fill it to 5" or more (depending on the courseness of your sand grains). you are in no man's land.

DSB in that little tank though? i wouldnt do it.....

if your worried bout the fish and any spike, take em out and put them in QT till the dust settles

Curious as to why not? I have a DSB in my 29 and love it.. However, I had a BSJ that demanded some deep sand. smile.gif

i think most any size DSB is worthwhile if implemented/maintained properly.
