I know I do not have a picture it is real hard to get one. I will try though. There is 2 spots on my Live rock that is charcoal black in color and it is velvety. Is this some type of leather coral?

Ok I have photos. The ones on the live rock was hard to get. The other is on a mushroom rock it is better. I think they are botht he same.

Can you get some pictures? The only black corals I know of are black sun corals and this barrel shaped one from the Caribbean(I forget the name, I'll look for it)...

::edit:: cannot find anything on the barrel shaped one, I swear I came across an article with pics a few years ago. Only other black ones I can find are a few from Hawaii or the Caribbean that resemble gorgonians.

Thanks. I cannot find anything Either.

Looks like black sponges to me, I have a few of them in my tank. I can only make out a few spots that look like they could be vents. If you can see small openings ( not lots of them ) then I would say you have a black sponge.

There is another shot of it in my tank thread, look sorta like this ?

They are very sponge like and soft. When i look back at photos they were not there. several photos later they started showing up and slowly growing to where they are now.
