Hi all, I have a 45 gallon tank that measures 36L x24h x12w. I plan on making it into a all in one tank with a diy internal sump, diy protein skimmer and led light set up with a custom stand. The first part is with the internal filtration. I put together a sample one but am looking for ideas. On this picture #1 is where the filter pad will be, #2 is for the heater and #3 is the return. This will measure about 4 inches deep and 12 inches in length. I do not want it to be the full length across the tank, but am open to ideas. Thanks in advance for the input.

In #1 I would use a grated cover and tie rods down to a grated floor plate. Put a small handle on the top so that you can pull the whole assembly out to replace filter pads or floss or whatever you place in this stack.

From top down.

|----| small handle
- - - - top grate
|.......|
|.......| (side tie rods to bottom grate)
|.......| (ignore dots, needed to keep tie rods on side of stack)
|.......|
- - - - bottom grate

place filter components between tie rod area, use small handle to pull stack out of AIO filter area to replace andy media you place inside. Top grate optional but used for stabilityl

Sounds like what I am doing on mine- except I took an all in one tank and ripped the guts out and in process of building the HOB (Hand On Back Filter) to provide more room for filtering and for the display tank. Also, I am going to build the LED Hood for it as soon as I finish the HOB. Im going with 1/4 inch Acrylic- my post is on farther down the DIY threads... NC12 rebuild...

Thanks for the ideas, I like the rack setup and that will be added in, and I will check out your post.

Now I have a problem. My loving wife says I can buy the 34 Solana with the disco bulb light if I want. We were at a pet store and she seen it and loves the look of the tank. I really don't like the disco ball and I wanted to do a diy rook wall in the 45 but she just sprung this on me so now its on hold while I decide.
