Can a candy cane pistol live alone? Without a goby?

I got a goby without a pistol. Would you like to take turn?? hahah JK but i would think it would be able to. I heard that the goby follow whereever the pistol goes.

Hmmm...I would like another pistol. Will the shrimp be more reclusive.

My gobyis but i wouldnt kno how it would act with a pistol shrimp. but im not sure if youre able to have 2 pistol shrimp in the same tank. my LFS has 10 of them and they have them in 10 different tanks and some in the same tank but different cups

i have 2 pistol shrimp that i got from a piece of live rock that live together. i barely see them, i hear them all the time though, they snap back and forth every night.
i recently added a yellow watchman goby, which i was hoping would make them more comfortable with coming out into the open, but they're still pretty shy.
so back to the question, obviously they CAN live together and without a goby, but i don't know if they can be bought separate and placed together.

I had a wheelers watchman goby/tiger pistol shrimp for several years together but then the goby died and I still have the shrimp; for two more years, so they can obviously live alone. He's a lot more shy without his goby though. I've got a new yellow watchman in quarantine to put with him, but am uncertain if I want to put them together. After all this time I'd hate to have the goby harm the shrimp.
And no, I'd have never guessed that a shrimp could live that long. I've got a sexy that is just as old though, and has survived events that caused younger sexies to be lost. Go figure.

I had the same goby/pistol pair (Randall's shrimp goby and a tiger pistol) as yardboy, and I also kept the shrimp, for a while, after the goby died from jumping.

You can get a hi fin or yasha or tangoaro goby. They are too small to harm a tiger pistol.

My LFS has a bunch of watchmen gobies and tiger pistols all in the same tank. They seem to get along fine in their own little burrows. Not sure about long term though if territory comes up.

I had a pistol and a goby that lived alone for several months before they finially found each other in the tank so they have no problem living alone. you will just hardly ever seen the shrimp. :-/

I have a Tiger Pistol and about a week after geting him I got a Yellow watchman goby, they formed a bond and lived together for about 6 months then the goby disappeared,, found out about a week later he jumped behind the tank and landed on the floor behind the tank, Still have the Pistol alone don't see him much except when he is moving the sand around to his liking. been having him about a year now.

Thanks for the replies. But I decided against another pistol. I decided I'm going to transfer my pistol out my reef so he stops messing up the corals. And I don't want another pistol that's going to fight with my tiger. The only problem with this is I am going to have to give my damsel back to the store so he dosn't beat up my goby.
