The ALC unit comes with one of these:

http://www.digitalaquatics.com/saltwater/SWITCH

Just cut it in half and attach the leads to the Dim+and Dim- wires coming directly out of the Meanwell.

i did that and get nothing. I know the light works because if I hook the dim+ and dim - to a 9v battery it fires. any suggestions?

Update the ALC unit to the 1.15 beta firmware, fixed all my problems.

Make sure the headunit has latest firmware too. If you do not see the DimA and DimB of the ALC in the output menus after you update firmware on both and reset to factory defaults then maybe something is wrong with headunit or ALC.

If you see the DIMA and DimB then setup a timer that you want to be your light cycle. Mine is set as 11-8, keep in mind that 8 is when the ramp will start going down, so my off cycle starts at 8 and ramps down for an hour til 9. Setup the PC4 outlet that you plug the Meanwell into as a regular light timer not an advanced light, Mine is setup as 11-9. Then set the DimA and DimB as advanced lighting with the ramp and intensity you want. Use the light timer you set previously as how DimA and DimB will operate.

Keep in mind that if you try to set a timer that is already past the time to start, it will not go on til the following day. I kept resetting my head unit back to factory defaults in order to test everything and then when everything is set you can go back to everything you had.

Head unit and pc4 both running 1.11. if im using only one driver do i have to use both dimA and DimB? If so how did you connect the two switch connector to the meanwell?

I think latest firmware for PC4 is 1.12. Use only DimA if you have one meanwell. Just cut connector in half and solder or wire nut the two connector wires to the Dim+ and Dim- wires coming out of meanwell. You will be left with an extra connector if you want to add another meanwell later. Then just plug the connector into DimA of ALC unit with nothing plugged into DimB. Just setup DimA in the output menu the way I described earlier and leave DimB alone.

All equipment running current updated firmware. Again no power from the acl. Currently trying DA support for answers. Thanks for your help.

Did you ever get a multimeter on the ALC outputs to check the voltage?
tuumi
Don't mean to highjack but I'm going to be doing this in the future.
I'll four meanwells. 2 for blue and 2 for white. They can be run two on B and two on A right?
evilc66
Yes.

Yes.

I have a total of 8 Meanwells. Can you run 4 on each channel?
evilc66
Yes.

Thanks Evil!

Just to update this post. My alc module was bad. Thank you everyone with DA on the help diagnosing this problem. Once I received the new module everything ran very flawless. A little off the topic, but Evil thank you for all your help with my led build. I am going to post yet another build post so everyone can see my results.

the ALC module puts out 9.75 volts at 100 intensity --- also like Evil recommended to me was to turn down the meanwell drivers too 1000ma or 1A instead of the factory setting of 1.3A bc that might be too much --- THANKS EVIL
