Did I make a new thread on this? Yes I did.
I want HD video, macro capability and a compact size (pocketsized would be ideal). It's for the wife, but I want the video for my tank. I don't care if it can recognize faces - I don't care about taking pics of homo-sapiens. Whoever recommends the best camera will earn the title of DHaut's Favorite Person for 48 minutes. Plus, you'll make my wife happy, which will make me happy.

in advance.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZR1 might not seem like an astonishing camera, but its combination of new technologies and materials, generally excellent photo quality and performance, and healthy feature set geared toward snapshooters makes it a standout pocket megazoom.

Just asked the wife her requirements:
1. Easy to use
2. Can fit in purse
3. Takes good pictures.
I will add:
4. 720p video
5. Ability to endure semi-harsh conditions such as new york blizzards and ski trips.

This is the one I'm getting, but I want it more for the video than the photos. The photos are adequate, the video is good, the size is awesome, and the price is good too. The biggest negative is the proprietary battery. I would prefer AAs.
