Ok guys you may remember me, I had the two long 8 foot shallow acrylic system I had setu, only to find out we were moving. Well I got a better deal on a ddif tank so heres the build step by step at our new house. Sorry its taken so long to start posting here. Im copying and pasting from my local reef site. Bare with me it might be a day or two to get it all moved here.

Well, still looking for a house, not a problem of finding one just the women making their minds up. Im working on a 50 long glasscages tank I got from Joe. It has awesome dimensions. Its drilled for two drains in the back. Im thinking of drilling the bottom for a closed loop, not sure yet though. I just spent three nights de-rimming and scraping paint off. The back was painted blue and the bottom was painted white. Im painting it black bottom and back( Ive always liked the black color better than others). Im also modifying the 30l sump and incorporating another 30l so the skimmer and LR will have its own nice sized area, and then it connect to another 30 long with a nice sized deep sandbed and macro algae. So Im tinkering with the tank till we move.....

::sigh::

ughhhhhhh whyyyy ????? I was carrying the tank out the front door(my girlfriend opened the door) when the door hit a plant we have next to the TV and the door started closing before I could get out of the way. Welp, one of the sides of the tank got broken completely. Thankfully I have some spare 1/4", so ill be repairing that tonight. My poor girlfriend got upset thinking I was gunna be mad, but I wasnt tongue.gif

Well.....replacing that side panels wasnt as hard as I though. I did it last night and let it sit about 24hrs, and just a few minutes ago put the top rim back on. Ill let it sit for a week, then water test it.

Some other good news, we found a 4b inInnerarity Point , Nice sized, I even get a garage and a manshed !! woohoo. Its hard moving when youre the only male in the household.

Heres the stand its not finished Ive followed the stand build off RC. There will be (2) 2x4s at each corner on top of whats already there for extra support and allow me to flush mount the skinnnn. Itll be primed with kilnz inside and out. This is just what I got done on the back porch before the rain. And you might recognize the countertop and the tank (it was what Joe had setup at his house) Here are some quick pics, its going to be setup on the dining room wall. Theres lots more to be done I havent got time to type ! Oh and Im adding a center brace on the front and the back as well

After talking it over with Joe I decided to do the middle brace, At least now if I upgrade I could really do any tank I want wink.gif Im sure this thing will hold an elephant. I used around 100 2' wood screws. Still need to supports to go inside the top frame like the ones you see in the bottom fram. Strange enough I had 10 8' 2x3s without adding up everything I had just enough with hardly any scrap leftover.

whatcha think ?

I was gunna get up this morning and work on my stand but decided to take LB for a walk with my son.

This is one end of our street

This is the other end smile.gif

I love it !!

( Ill be priming and putting some skinnn on the stand at some point tommorow)

Got the Kilz and 2 gfci receptacles to replace the two standard plugs that are behind the stand, ill try swapping those out by myself tommorow. Getting the bulkheads fromAquaria tommorow.

Well Im not an electrician but after a few tries, I got the gcfis installedx. Dont think ill need them but theyre good to have!! Got 2 coats of kilz on the stand9if anyone needs any or wants whats left of a gallon can LMK). Just brought it inside, getting ready to plumb it and get the rodi line clamped to the trim so it can start filling with water!! Pics later!!

Came home to a cloudy tank, so I siphon out what little if any detritus there was out of the BB display. Any ideas on the cloudiness ? Nothing has changed since it started cycling 2 weeks ago,. Any ideas?

Well, yesterday afternoon I noticed a little swelling around my left jawbone. I went to bed and woke up this am and my swelling had increased to about the size of a grapefruit. So we freaked out and went to our dentist, and I have a severe infection due to a molar thats needed to have been pulled. So I got a crapload of antibiotics and pain killers, its feeling better.

On a better note Joe texted me late last night to inform me this came in

Oh and the milky water cleared up after I added a filter sock, and got my lights thanks to Chris I got a 660 with the slr reflectors, the complete kits and some bulbs which the guy we got them from said they were new, but who knows. reefgeek says the 660 over drives the bulbs to 85 watts, either 85 or 80 I still think a 4 bulb will be ok, if not ill add 2 more bulbs and another 660. Now I gotta figure how Im going to use the lights on the tank. Im not building a canopy but I might built an open are fixture and suspend it over the tank with electrical conduit like i did with my lumenbright over my nanocube.
