Does anybody own the T1i and if so:

Do you love it?
How is the 1080p 20fps?
Pissed that Canon released the T2i less than a year later?

My hand is hovering over buy now button for the T1i, but the T2i with the 1080p 30fps is just calling my name : )

Any feedback is appreciated

If you want a video camera get a video camera.

In order to produce decent HD production quality videos you looking at an additional $1500 in glass to start. Get a still frame camera if thats what you are looking for, ignore any video options while considering which model to purchase. Just my .2c smile.gif IE Try not to use a video option while deciding which still camera you are buying.

don't own it, but used it for many thousand photos on a trip...

yes, i loved it
stuck to 720p to avoid any jittery looking videos
thrilled about the T2i (but then, i don't own the T1i)

avoid buying now. T2i comes out in a month, T1i price will drop.

I'd go with the T2i, but I've tried neither. *le sigh

you get better video with 1080P in 24fps..6400 Native ISO, better metering, larger range of exposure compensation, cross type at 5.6 in the center and extra sensitivity at 2.8 lenses, 3:2 LCD screen vs 4:3.
the T2i is out now..

On your website, the aquaria print section, did you get all the macro shots with your 350D? They're great!
Lalani
Yes indeedy, all of those shots were taken with the XT. I really need to update my site..
Thanks. smile.gif

Best bang for the buck if you are just starting out as well as to intermediate.

Great camera !! Also hooks up to all the lenses that the $1200 Nikon cameras do.

I have the T1i, and I'm not crazy about it. I think my XS takes better shots. I personally think it has a bit too much chroma noise in certain photos. As for the T2i, after my experience with my T1i, I think I'll wait for more reviews.
I think the video quality is adequate, but don't plan on using a kit lens. Focusing will be too noisy, and you'll hear it in the video.
I do shoot a lot of technical stuff. Astrophotography, water drops, etc... So I am very particular.

Can we see examples?

I figured if I had Nikon D70 and went to a T1i, it's kinda like a slap in the face to DSLR's haha. That's how one guy put it to me lawl

Nice

What do you edit your photos with?

The 50D is definitely a camera I can grow into and become a better photographer

I dont see how he could say going from a D70 to a T1i is a slap in DSLR face..the T1i is pretty much better in every aspect to the D70 other then the size of the body.

I use LightRoom 2 and Photoshop CS4

So, umm, how long does it usually take for Opteka to release a battery grip for a new camera like the T2i? (lookin' at you, 05X)

no clue..I havnt had a grip since I had my XT about 4years ago...Usually it isnt to to long..I would bet by summer they will. They dont have one for the T1i..isnt that the same setup?
they have one for the T1i

Lalani
Hrm, not sure. The T1i uses LP-E5 batteries and the T2i uses LP-E8.

Nope, different:
Opteka for T1i

Canon for T2i

I don't know if I want to wait until the summer. sad.gif
Guess I could just buy the body and buy the grip later.. blah.
05XRunner
i am sure they will come out with it pretty quick...they seem to be fast with the rebel line of cams and grips
05XRunner
why not save up and get the 7D and move out of the rebel line. When i went from my XT w/grip to my 30D it was a big jump and I never felt the need to add a grip after with it...So how come not upgrade to a higher body..like a 50D if the 7D is to much.
Lalani
7d is too much $$$, and the only advantage I really see to the 50d would be higher frame per second..... which I really don't need.

50D has Higher frame per sec..Much better AF that will lock on much better in lower light(all focus points are cross type with a 5.6 or faster lens. and the center is cross and diagonal with a 2.8 and faster. larger more comfortable body. Much better build, MicroAdjustment for lenses.

Meh, maybe if I didn't know how to use a camera that stuff would impress me.
I'll pass. wink.gif
