Dremel or bandsaw would do fine, just make sure that they're well fed and healthy before you go fragging them. If you frag an unhealthy colony chances are that they'll never be able to heal correctly.

+1

and with dremel fragging them keep water handy or setup a drip.. use the extension and cutting wheel on it instead of right at the unit.. easier to handle and can drip cool while cutting the frags. does get a lil messy tho wear proper protection. (Eye hand etc)

i fragged a couple little pieces off mine.i used a dremel and the pieces looked pretty bad after. i thot they wouldnt live. but now all of them have healed and look just as healthy as the mother colony.

Can you post pics after you frag? I just got a colony, of 15+ heads, and my buddy wants a few for his tank. smile.gif

He is on a really tight budget, so I decided to buy the colony for $60. (is that a good price) But he has a small tank, 14 gallon. The colony is to big for him, so I will put in my 67 gallon. Would love to see pics of what they look like when they are fragged off..

if you use a dremel it goes through pretty fast so you dont have to worry about the heat too much. i frag toadstools all the time
