how big do they get? i had the flash light in the tank tonight and it kinda looked like one but not for sure. it almost looked like it was one of the brownish looking worms that you get in your basment that curl up like a coil when they dye. what i was seeing was at least 1/4in+ in length.

Some do get a pretty big in size, I've seen some in my tank at 1/4 inch in size, but without a picture there's no definitive way to say that's what it is.

caprellids come in at about an inch...cold water pods get bigger than that

If you are referring to the common, ubiquitous ones that we all get from our LR, the largest I've seen are a touch under 1/2" in the body.

the gammarinds, are usually the size of a "c", but get up to "C" size. but I guess it depends on the zoom on your browser.
