Well, got a deal on a used Solana. Was thinking that I would just go purchase a stand made by current but feel they are overpriced for what they really are. Don't get me wrong they are pretty nice smile.gif But for $50 buks and a week or so I feel that I can get the job done. FYI the best price that I have found on a used Solana stand is $200 and new at $275 + %13 Tax.

So, anyone have any links/pics to get me started ?

I am intending on keeping a powerbar, Top Off and a UPS within the stand.

Progress,

I had intentions of adding a door... mabey not.

Im thinking two shelves, 12" apart.

36" Tall

20' X 20" footprint.

Back to work...

I would do the door. It would give you the option to store your supplies out of sight. Looks good so far.

Agreed it would give me the option of hiding supplies, Im hoping to get it stained by tonight. The door that I would be making wouldn't be anything special and may take away from the overall look of the stand.

I've already got a nice little corner in the basement, used to be my darkroom. Now its the fish room, without the fish.

Now just to get out the filler and then some stain.

~Reefur~
Filler in, sanded...

And now the staining part...

You will have a build log in no time wink.gif

Looks really good, like the design. I'm in the process of building my stand also, it's only thing I'm waiting on....Good luck.

fingers crossed... wink.gif

This will likely turn into a frag system, I really haven't put to much thought into what will happen to it. Just know that it should be running rock shortly. Picked up some really nice rock from a fellow reefer moving a 280 Gallon that was 10 years old, its pretty nice stuff.

Mabey move my oceanic into this tank and do the upgrades and sump changes I have been dying to do. In order to get the sump out of the stand I need to drain the tank... it comes out the top. That was a stupid decision I made.

Thanks, it wasn't that time consuming to build. This is nothing special, just trying to get it done as good as I can as quick as I can ! Im sure you understand... !

Im thinking windowed door.

Need to install the shelf and decide on a door. ( If any )

Should dry without all of the gloss, stain was still wet when I took this.

Door would look sweet!

Door it is smile.gif

Im going to have to think about this one for awhile. No idea what would look good and really don't want to screw this stand up at this point. Stain is still a little bit tacky, I would have thought it would be dry by now. After two coats there is still some inconsistency in the stain, I would put on another coat but this stand is getting pretty dark another coat may be overkill.

Just waiting for the stain to dry smile.gif

Been playing with rock for the last hour... its dying to get into that Solana. ( Least the Cured very alive stuff anyway )

~Reefur~
Now just making the door, Im going to get the tank full and get the rock in then start working on the door.

I ran some pilot holes into the inside walls of the stand to have an adjustable shelf opposed to installing the shelf in a fixed position. Heres a pic with the tank on it, its messy we are in the process of top to bottom renos...
~Reefur~
Well Solana's full and running... link is in my Signature for those interested.

Thanks for Looking !
