I bought six ceriths yesterday, and they won't attach to the rock. They keep falling off onto the sand. Can someone tell me why, and what I can do about it? I know that they are not dead, because when I shine a light at them, they close up their shells.

it seemed like mine did that for about 24 hours ro so .. now they are trucking all over the place.. set them on the sand next to a rock or the glass and let em be for a while
They will more around and eventually get acclimated to yoru water flow etc.

+1 my dwarf ceriths hang out in the sand and on the glass. They may sometimes crawl up rocks (cleaning rubble, lower rocks), but it doesn't happen as often. My regular ceriths usually cruise all over the rocks, but give it some time. They need to recover from moving tanks and get used to the new one first.

My ceriths also hang out on the sand and glass more often than the rocks.

Okay, thanks.
Yesterday my stupid hermit crab killed one of my ceriths for its shell, and one looks dead... the other four are still alive though.

Maybe I have different ceriths but mine have one hell of a time moving across sand. Their feet are small and they have to grab a chunk of sand, pull with it, then unslime it, rinse repeat like someone heaving themselves up a rope in spurts.
They fall off the glass a lot also. But rock work they are machines.
