I don't know how most people get their news, but for those looking for some updates--

http://www.dpreview.com/

will be posting information on all the new gear released at this year's PMA.

Some stuff has already been released, for instance they covered Sigma today...a buncha new lenses and new low dispersion glass are among the notable items! Go check it out!

05XRunner
that 85 and new 70-200 OS probably end up in my bag shortly after they are released

ZOMG stabilized 70-200 f/2.8 biggrin.gif

o wait, i has no money sad.gif

Yeah the 70-200 was a great move on their part. EX quality plus OS and huge aperture is a winning combo.

I'm surprised Canon didn't show. A friend of mine said he looked into it and it had to do with their product life cycles not matching up with the schedule of the PMA. I'm not well versed in Canon, but I feel like they're perpetually in a state of developing&releasing new items-- or it least it seems that way to someone who doesn't shoot Canon. At any rate, for that reason maybe it doesn't make more sense for them to try to gear everything around one show, like the PMA.

Canon's new product announcements were several weeks before the show. Just a different way of marketing.

Their product releases will probably be faster than the new products from PMA as well. Canon's upgraded 70-200 IS will be out in April. Sigma's 70-200 OS probably won't be released until June.

The Sigma is set to release in May. But hey at this point it's anyone's game-- they said the SD15 would be out two years ago and they only just released the specs. Obviously, I doubt such will be the case with the new lenses, be we must keep in mind Sigma hasn't been the most punctual brand in the past lol. Wouldn't be surprised if the Sigma gear didn't show up in stores till June, like you said.

LOL, I was guessing completely based on past lens releases for Sigma. Seems like it's always June/July.

A lot of people seem to be excited about both the new 17-50, and the 70-200...maybe they bumped it up a month because it's sort of a bigger product release in terms of people actually wanting to buy their stuff for once ahah

i'm certainly excited about it. near canon quality at much better prices...i could end up with all sigma lenses in the future.

was there any word on pricing? i haven't seen anything, but haven't looked much either.

The Sigma forum on dpreview has been all abuzz with the new products, however those that have strong ties with the company have kept relatively quiet. The general thought is that they'll be priced just above the msrp of the existing versions of all of the new lenses. The good news is that Sigma's stuff never stays at msrp for more than five minutes-- so as you said they will certainly be the more affordable option over Canon. You can pretty much bet that Sigma's new 70-200 will be more affordable that Canon's $2.5k version of the same lens blingbling-1.gif
